If you’re looking for quotes on love in a romantic way, this article isn’t about that. I encourage you to stick around anyway because you’ll likely leave with some valuable insights. This article is about love as the ultimate source of good and the opposite of fear.
These quotes on love, and choosing love over fear are about doing your best to always make the loving choice. To act based on love instead of fear.
Quotes on love (and choosing it over fear) won’t change your life on their own. But they can motivate, inspire, and cause you to think about things differently.
The more you think about things differently, the more likely you are to take different actions. Over time, taking different actions will change your life.
In a roundabout way, quotes on love (or quotes in general) can be an impetus for self improvement and change.
For example, one of my favorite quotes on love and fear is:
“Every human thought, word, or deed is based on fear or love. Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, hides, hoards, harms. Love is the energy which expands, opens up, sends out, reveals, shares, heals. You have free choice about which of these to select.”Neal Donald Walsch
I really like this quote because upon deep inspection, it shows us how often we make decisions that are rooted in fear.
This usually happens before we even notice it.
The most common example is saying things that we really don’t mean. It’s usually in the form of a response to a question.
How are doing? “Good!” You’re really not good…
Does this look good on me? “It looks great!” It really looks terrible…
What about something much more serious though? What if the question is from your significant other such as “Do you still love me?”
Your response is “Of course I do”, but inside you aren’t really sure if you do or not. You’re confused. You sincerely don’t know how you feel at the moment.
The retort “Of course I do” seems to be the only acceptable answer. It isn’t though, and you know it.
You just responded that way because it’s the easiest way to respond in the moment. It avoids the unknown and potential conflict. We are fearful of the unknown.
The response out of love would be whatever is actually on your mind. The loving response willingly dives into the unknown whether conflict arises or not.
Another example could be if your boss asks you how you feel about an idea. It’s very easy to respond with what you think they want to hear, instead of how you actually feel.
I’m sure you can think of many more examples on your own.
The point is that fear is easy and love is hard.
Fearful actions seek the best outcome for the person taking action. Loving actions seek truth and understanding, regardless of the outcome.
What you’ll find is that the happiest and most successful people don’t operate in fear very often.
People operating from love are open to the messiness and uncomfortableness. They don’t shy away from fierce conversations and are better for it.
The above quote might not have any significance for you, but chances are there are at least a few that will.
Check out the list below and see if some of the quotes on love (and choosing it over fear) resonate with you. If they do, commit them to memory and draw upon them when needed.
One of them could be just what you need at just the right time to help modify your thinking. Armed with new thoughts, have the courage to act on them and behave differently.
Over time, self improvement and change are inevitable.
